Cruise holidays for nature-lovers in Germany in a few words…
Set off to explore the beauty of Germany’s lakes. Fleesensee, definitely one of Germany’s most beautiful areas, offers a lovely and charming panorama. Not far away Lake Müritz is the perfect place for birdwatching: cormorants, cranes and even eagles. If you head towards Waren, you will find a lively town and a well-known marina. One of the great things about Germany’s lakes is the way that each one leads into several others. You can alternate between walking, swimming, fishing or just lazing around. Head westwards towards Plau, which overlooks the lake of the same name. In the Karow district, you could visit the brick-built, neo-classical palace and the church with its stepped gables, a feature of real architectural interest. The Müritz-Elde Waterway that links the River Elbe to Lake Müritz, follows the course of the Elde and its meandering route.
The
highlights of Fleesensee
- A conservation area with plenty of wildlife, ideal for couples looking for a boating holiday in unspoiled natural surroundings
- The water in Mecklenburg lakes is perfectly clean and ideal for swimming. Enjoy!

Müritz: the lake and charming villages
Itinerary
Fleesensee...FleesenseeThe city of Malchow is called the pearl of the Mecklenburg Lake District. The location is indeed beautiful. Nearby, tourists can visit the Malchower See, the Fleesensee or the Plauer See. Water sports are very important here, to the delight of sports enthusiasts.
Waren is a pretty spa town to the north of Lake Müritz. You could stop your Pénichette here to do your shopping, tour some of the sights and enjoy the view of the lake. It’s also highly regarded for the sport of "accrobranching" along tree-top adventure trails.
Flecken Zechlin is located north of Rheinsberg on the "Black Lake", also called Kleiner Zechliner See. There are beautiful bathing spots with a small sandy beach and sunny lawns on its shores. The surrounding forest and the lake landscape offer many opportunities for hiking, cycling and boating.
Visit the magnificent Rheinsberg Palace, once the home of Frederick II of Prussia. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the classical music and opera festival that takes place there every year. Take time out from your cruise to visit the attractive town and its many small shops.
In the heart of Mecklenburg
Itinerary
Fleesensee...FleesenseeThe charming town of Plau is located directly on the west bank of the Plauer See and Müritz-Elde-Wasserstrasse and extends to the west of the Müritz region and the Mecklenburg Lake District. The relatively old town is still characterised by its half-timbered brick houses.
Stop your self-drive boat in Lübz to explore the old town and its market place, or the churches (1570) and the former priory. Make time to visit the little planetarium and view the stars.
Situated on the Elde river and the Mecklenburg lakes cycle path, the town of Parchim is a small jewel. It is one of the oldest cities in Mecklenburg and many of the buildings to be seen have been preserved from its eventful history.
Schwerin boasts over 850 years of history and is one of the most important towns in the story of Mecklenburg. While on your cruise, don’t miss seeing its magnificent medieval castle that gives the town its special character.
