CHOOSING
First of all, fix your holiday dates.
The next thing is THE big question: where to go? Locaboat has picked out the loveliest destinations for you. There are destinations to suit every taste so there must be one that’s right for you. Once you’ve made these decisions, choose the boat that you like on the basis of our descriptions. If you want to be absolutely sure, you can confirm your choice by using the virtual tours available on our website. Finally, don’t hesitate to contact our staff; they are real enthusiasts and can really help you when it comes to making your choice.
BOOKING
Made your choices?
You can book by phone or online. Either way, our staff will be ready to help you. Once your holiday has been finalised, we’ll send you your Captain’s Handbook, full of practical information, how the boat works, an inventory, etc. This is also the time to book all the services that will make life easier: onboard Wi-Fi, a list of shopping for your first evening or bike hire so you can go out on excursions.
CRUISING – inexperience welcome
It’s time to set off on your cruise. No need to panic, it’s easy and accessible!
Learning will be in two stages. First you arrive at the base where our staff will be waiting with your boat. You will start with theory, with a description of the route, the signage you need to know, the type of locks, stopping places and moorings. Then it’s time for the practical details: you’ll tour the boat with a technician and together you’ll identify the equipment so that you understand how it all works. The technician will give you advice about skippering the boat and some basic lessons in navigation.
TOURING
Impatient to get going? Locaboat will help you to draw up a programme for your holiday.
The waterways guide for your destination will be very useful for providing a list of the locks, stopping places, moorings and of course the towns and villages you’ll pass. Locaboat will also provide personalised suggestions for your route, on a day-by-day basis. But you’re free to adapt these however you like! Most ports of call and recommended sites are just a few minutes’ walk from the waterway. You’ll also find a logbook on your boat that lists recommended restaurants and tourist attractions along your route.
Finally, you can count on our local teams and lock-keepers and other leisure sailors to offer good advice and — even more important — pleasant chats!
